In general [[https://www.torproject.org|Tor]] is an application for safer internet access. By encrypting [[https://support.torproject.org/glossary/traffic|traffic]] and using a distributed network of [[services/tor/relay|relay]]s (the [[https://support.torproject.org/glossary/tor-tor-network-core-tor|Tor network]]) it obfuscates the physical location of its users. This technique is called [[https://support.torproject.org/about/#protections|Onion routing]] and can help protecting against censorship, tracking, and surveillance.
